Music Therapy is a psychological intervention that uses music to achieve non-musical aims. These may be social, emotional, physical or communication related aims.
Music can be used as a motivation to help people achieve things that they may find harder in the outside world.
A qualified and HCPC registered Music Therapist will build a therapeutic relationship with the client. The therapist may facilitate improvisation or songwriting (for example) to help individuals or small groups achieve pre-established goals.
We can also provide a multi-sensory experience, encouraging neurodiverse learners to engage as much as they can and reach their full potential!
Music Therapy can be beneficial to anyone! Often Music Therapists work with people with diagnoses such as autism, ADHD and other people with communication difficulties. It is suitable for anyone with additional needs but especially those who may find it harder to communicate verbally.
The Bubble Song is one of our group favourites - usually participants are encouraged to blow their own bubbles!
